Produced by Simbios Art Corp and Plum Entertainment, "Asi de simple" had a 2 year run in Miami, playing performances at Koubek Center, Alan and Diane Lieberman Theatre and Sandrell Rivers Theatre. Directed by Josefina Pieres and written by Ignacio Bresso and Sofia Gonzalez Gil. Así de simple is a story in which we listen to everything we don't say before and, sometimes, after speaking. It is a comedy about love, heartbreak, ego, and the complications of being human. Joaquín and Clara are a typical Miami couple, a Venezuelan and an Argentinean, portrayed in a play with two characters and six actors: Abelardo Chahwan, Ron Chavez and Saul Mauricio, who will be Joaquín and his alter egos; Martina Lavignasse, Mica Plum and Julie Lafuente, who will be Clara and hers.
For director Josefina Pieres, the proposal addresses communication in the various types of couples. "When the play begins, Clara and Joaquín want to separate. They each have their alter egos. On stage we will be witnessing what they actually feel and think versus what they say; that is, those internal dialogues -in which our reactions are filtered by emotions as diverse as affection, compassion or fear- versus what we say and keep silent," expressed Pieres. "It's a very empathetic play. It touches all kinds of couples, of all ages, from teenagers and young people, to adults and senior citizens," she added.
Likewise, Josefina Pieres emphasized that the play goes beyond a conflict associated with the social context."The truth is that we liked the idea of mixing nationalities. Talking with Mica Plum, who is our general producer, we were excited about the idea of a first test project to start telling stories that could belong to everyone. The play has less to do with the social context and more to do with the human condition,".
